Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Tomorrow is October 1 and that marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I work with two very special ladies who are both breast cancer survivors, and each year I mark this month with a little "somethin' somethin'" for them.  This year, I made each of them this card.

The card was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest.   Below is a list of the supplies.

Cardstock:  Heavy Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake
Embossing Folders:  Perfect Polka Dots (for the bra - retired) and Polka Dots (for one of the layers)
Punches:  2" circle; 3/4" circle, scallop edge (retired)
Ribbon:  Blushing Bride
The straps were simply made by cutting whisper white scraps into strips.

Remember to wear your pink during the month of October to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I love seeing all the pink on the professional football fields during October.  I guess the saying is true:  "Real men wear pink!"

**You may wonder why I posted this today instead of tomorrow.  Well . . . tomorrow is the official start of the Blogging Friends Blog Hop.  Be sure to stop by tomorrow to check it out!

More Halloween Cards

These are the remaining three cards that I made for the Halloween Card Swap over at scrapbook.com.  I hope you enjoy them!

This first one was made using the retired Tee Hee Hee stamp set.  I know it's not available anymore, but I just think it's an adorable set -- it even has a stamp for the little clothespins! This card was totally inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest.

Stamp Set:  Tee Hee Hee (Retired)
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink:  Basic Black, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip (for the brooms)
Other:  Crumb Cake Thick Baker's Twine

This second one was fun to make, and I really got my fingers inky!  The sky was made with a mixture of Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black inks.  The grad was made with a mixture of Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake inks with a few dabs of Basic Black.  There were NO stamps used here!
The pumpkin was made by punching three small ovals with the small oval punch (retired) and layering them to form the pumpkin.  The pumpkin stem is made from the leaves from the Bird Builder punch.

Cardstock:  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Always Artichoke
Inks:  Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake
Punches: Small Oval (retired), Bird Builder
Die Cuts:  Spooky Fence (Sizzix) and Bats (Sizzix)

This last one would also be a good choice for a fall or Thanksgiving card (with a different sentiment of course! LOL).  I just love the Hardwood background stamp.  I made the pickets on the fence by using the Hexagon punch to form the pickets.

Stamp Set:  Hardwood, Wondrous Wreath, Good Greetings (no longer available)
Cardstock:  Early Espresso, Whisper White, Crumb Cake
Inks:  Soft Suede (for the fence and sentiment), Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso (for the brown leaves on the wreath)
Punch/Die: Hexagon, Wonderful Wreath Framelit
Ribbon:  Early Espresso seam binding
Other:  Brown brads

I hope you like these cards and that they inspire you to get your hands dirty and create some Halloween cards!

Happy Anniversary to my Wonderful Husband

First, let me a pologize for my absence.  It's been a busy few weeks, and and the rest of the  fall is also jam packed, but I'm hoping to be back to blogging and posting regularly!

This past week, my husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary, and this is the card I made for him.   It is so appropriate since he never complains as I drag him along to visit lighthouses all over the place.  He was even a good sport when he  agreed to sleep in one thi summer!  What an adventure that was!!

The stamp set in this card is From Land to Sea.  I made the background using sponges, and I masked the sun with a post-it note punched from a 1/2" circle.  Here are the details:

Card base - Real Red
Card front - Whisper White:  I inked the white paper using sponges in the following colors from bottom up:  /Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Soft Sky and So Saffron (all from the Subtles Color Collection).
Lighthouse - Stamped in Real Red with the lighthouse from the Land to Sea set.  I die cut it out using a die I purchased from Dave the Die Guy (www.diesbydave.storenvy.com)
Sun:  before I began sponging the background, I punched a small circle from a post-it note.  I used the "stencil" from that and colored it in with a sponge and So Saffron ink.  Then I removed the "stencil" and sponed around the circle with So Saffron, using a lighter hand.
Sentiment: Express Yourself stamp set (2014 Sale-A-Bration) in Real Red.
I finished it off by wrapping some jute string to it.

My husband loved it, and I'm so glad he did.  It'll get him ready for the next round of lighthouses I take him to!!!
