Last Minute Engagement Card

So, my daughter stopped by for a visit the other night.  She asked what I was making for dinner, and decided she'd stay to join me.  It's always a treat to have her come by AND stay for awhile.  After dinner was over, she said, "Oh, by the way, I need an engagement card.  Can you make me one?"  Of course, my answer was "yes".  I asked when she needed it by, and she said, "I'll clean up the dishes if you can get started now.  I need it for tomorrow."  Gotta love 'em!

Well, being under pressure actually worked in my favor.  An idea popped into my head and I kind of just went with it.  I started with the obvious -- the champagne flutes from Mixed  Drinks.  I stamped them in Basic Black and then cut some gold glimmer paper to fill them in.  Then I remembered a ring I had made for a fancy peek-a-boo engagement card so I made the ring with silver foil paper and some rhinestones. That left me with a lot of empty  space, though, so I pulled out the  Bloomin' Love sstamp set.  I stamped the small heart with Versamark  and then embossed it with Blushign Bride embossing powder.  To fill  in the bottom space, I tied a bow with Blushing Bride stitched grossgrain ribbon.

Those pieces were all mounted onto Blushing Bride cardstock with was then attached to Thick Whisper White card stock.  I stamped "Congratulations" using the Floral Phrases set with Versamark and embossed it with Blushing Bride Embossing Powder.  Ta da -- done!  Once my creative juices started flowing, the card came together pretty quickly.

How do you create under pressure?

Jar of Love Thank You Notes

This set of Thank You Notes was inspired by a pin I saw on Pinterest.  I thought they were a perfect way to showcase the new In Colors.  I made a set of these as a raffle prize at my recent Catalog Kickoff.  Although the cards were a bit labor intensive, they are so worth it. Don't you agee?

Set of 5 Thank You Notes in the 2017-2019 In Colors

Tranquil Tide

Powder Pink

Fresh Fig

Berry Burst

Lemon Lime Twist

The card bases are from the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper.  For each card, I used the same In Color for the DSP, Ink, and cardstock.  All the greenery was stamped using Old  Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  The jar was stamped using Basic Black.  The jar, flowers, bow, and small greenery were die cut with the Everyday Jar framelits and were all raised using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Each flower has a small rhinestone jewel in the middle.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this project, one of my other projects, or if I can help you with any of your stamping needs.

Touches of Texture Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are not always easy to make.  I strive for a card that is calming in color and presence but one that will also bring the recipient some comfort.  I recently needed to send a sympathy card, and I came up with this one.

I thought the Wisteria Wonder was perfect for the card base.  I stamped the flowers from the Touches of Texture set using Archival Black and then used Watercolor Pencils to color the flowers and leaves. Although Melon Mambo is a bright, strong color, when watercolored, it became subtle and soft.  The frame was made using the Layering Ovals set, which really makes the flowers pop.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

To put the card together - first I stamped the image on Whisper White and attached it to the card base.  Next I marked where I  needed to die cut the oval frame.   I scored the lines along all sides using the Score Board.  After I made the frame, I attached that to the card front and raised it using Stampin Dimensionals so that the flower looks like it's in a shadow box.  The final step was to attach the sentiment.

It was pretty simple to make, although there were a lot of steps.  I hope that it brought comfort to my friend.

Embossed Daisy Thank You

I'm really loving this new Daisy Delight stamps set.  (Can you tell by all my posts about it ?!)  This card is another super quick and easy project.

This is one of those designs that can be added to in so many small ways to take it up a notch -- add some small green leaves scattered througout; add some Wink of Stella on the petals of the daisies; add some rhinestones in the centers of the daisies, etc.  I chose to make it minimalistic so that it is easy to envision the little extra things you can do to the basic design.
